NEWBORN GUIDELINE CHANGES
Previously, BCBSAZ required
medical records for all
applicants less than three
months of age regardless of
health history. Beginning Jan.
1, 2007, BCBSAZ began
underwriting the newborn as it
does all other applicants, i.e.,
requesting medical records only
when necessary.
This change will expedite
some applications that include a
newborn child. Please continue
to remind your clients of the
importance of disclosing all
health information of each
applicant, including newborns.
